Two days after Marriage Satyanarayan Pooja was perfromed.
i participated in the Pooja, listened to the Story (pothi) told by the Pandit.
I felt we were performing the pooja just as a formality to be completed as part of custom. I am not sure any body was interested to listen what story is being told by the Pujari.People were interested in the procedure most of the time , like if all Gods have received proper attention with haldi, kum kum etc.
While searching the information about this Pooja.
i.e. what is real meaning of this Pooja
What is the meaning of the story told during this pooja.

But it doesn't give.. any idea how this Custom improves quality of living.
In short the Puja is like below:
First there is Ganesh Pooja ,
then navagraha Puja symbolically presented by Suparies.
Followed by Krishna puja , Satyanarayan Puja and then reading of the Satyanarayan Pothi.
When i carefully saw what exactly happening there ..
Satyanarayn means Satya Narayan can be said as God of The truth.
The Satyanarayan book (pothi) that is read at time is having five chapters.
First chapter is of introduction, other chapters have hidden messages inside.
1) The second chapter story gives a message that One should fulfill his commitment.
In the story, the merchant commits to perform Pooja and he fails to fulfil him commitment
2) The third chapter gives message that one should always speak truth.
In the story, The merchant lies that he having vegatables and not gold in his ship and his gold becomes vegetables.
3) The fourth chapter gives message that whatever we do we should do it complete, we should not leave it in between, other wise it will not result what is supposed to. Message for Dedication.
In the story, daughter of merchant leaves the Pooja in between and runs to visit his father and husband, as a result of incomplete Pooja her husband disappears.
4) The fifth and last chapter gives the message that one should do this Pooja.As this Pooja reminds above points and by reminding these points time to time those will get implemented in life and leads to happy life.
At the begining itself it is told that , This is a Vratt.
It is not just Pooja procedure.The messages of the Pooja has to be respected always for happy life.
